The RI 4278 is designed for use together with the RI 268. The Ranatec RI 268 Tunable Band Reject Filter is used to suppress a specific 5 or 160 MHz band, while passing through the neighbouring frequencies. The pass band is at most ±1000 MHz from the reject band center frequency. See specific documentation of the RI 268 for details. The RI 4278 extends the pass bands of RI 268 to include all frequencies up to 40000 MHz. It consists of a switched filter bank plus connectors for including the RI 268. The RF schematic is shown in the figure below. Note that the SP8T switches are for DC-8 GHz, while the SPDT and SP4T switches are for DC-40 GHz.
